FAQs

Q: I like sailing, a lot.  I think it's cool, but I'm not sure exactly how it works.  Help?
A: Absolutely.  We'll work with you as long as you don't give up.  The ex-vp and best crew on the team in 2006 was brand new to it and we worked with him until he was the best.  But it wasn't our doing, it was HIM.  He was dedicated and put the effort forward.  If you halfhearted, why would you join the club?

Q: I took the course to get my powerboat license, and we learned about sailboats, so I know how to do it, right?
A: No, you don't.  You will be very unpleasantly surprised if you think any college sport is that simple.  However, we may try to work with you.

Q: I won nationals in 420s, Lasers, FJs, or I am from the coast in California.  Am I qualified?
A: Probably. :)

Q: Sailing's a sport?
A: It's in the Olympics.

Q: I'm willing to donate a lot of money.  Should I join?
A: Yes. Being able to buy our own boats and lodging is our goal.  Because we are a club team, we have a much smaller budget than the varsity teams that we compete against. If you donate enough money to buy a boat, you get to name it and we'll put a plaque on the back with your name on it.  If you provide enough money to buy, or donate two boats or more, you get a spot on the board.  So, to be honest, yea, we'll take ya.
